Objective

The TurboPi project is my hands-on exploration of robotics, computer vision, and autonomous systems. I am using a Raspberry Pi–based mobile robot to experiment with vision, sensor data, navigation, and real-world movement—bridging the gap between software running on a computer and software that has to interact with the physical world. The project gives me an opportunity to apply concepts from software engineering, Linux, AI, and robotics while working with the constraints of an actual embedded platform. The goal is to build toward a system that can perceive its environment, make decisions, and act autonomously.

Objective

This project explores how deep learning can be used to classify galaxies based on their visual characteristics. Using PyTorch and transfer learning with pretrained convolutional neural networks, I developed a computer vision pipeline that learns meaningful features from astronomical imagery and uses them to distinguish between galaxy types. Beyond achieving classification accuracy, the project gave me practical experience with dataset preparation, model training, evaluation, and interpreting machine-learning predictions. It represents my first step toward applying computer vision to one of the domains that motivates me most: understanding the universe through technology.
